I was suffering with severe OCD that was effecting all parts of my life. After having therapy with a couple of other therapists I was getting nowhere, so I was looking for a specific type of therapist and I finally found what can only be described as a unicorn. Tom will change your life. His nature, advice, and type of therapy has totally transformed my life.
Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy for OCD and Intrusive Thoughts
A Curious, Compassionate, Approach to Your Mental Health
Henley-on-Thames & Online

CBT Therapist with Lived Experience
CBT therapy for individuals struggling with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), unwanted intrusive thoughts, and anxiety — delivered with compassion, expertise, and genuine understanding.
I’m a CBT Therapist specialising in evidence-based treatment for OCD and intrusive thoughts. Alongside my professional training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), my own lived experience of OCD, anxiety, and intrusive thoughts strongly informs my work. This allows me to offer therapy that is both clinically effective and deeply validating.
I am the Clinical Director of The Wellbeing Team LTD, a service made up of BABCP-accredited CBT Psychotherapists. We provide therapy for OCD, intrusive thoughts, anxiety, depression, and trauma, with sessions available online or face to face.
We understand how frightening and isolating intrusive thoughts can feel — particularly when you worry about what they might “mean.” At The Wellbeing Team, we offer a confidential, non-judgemental space where you can speak openly, reduce compulsions, and learn to respond to thoughts in a healthier, more freeing way.
In addition to therapy, we provide helpful blog articles and self-help resources focused on OCD and intrusive thoughts, designed to support understanding and recovery both inside and outside of sessions.
If you’re struggling with OCD or intrusive thoughts, help is available. You’re warmly invited to take the first step by arranging a free CBT consultation.

Tom has helped me significantly in such a short space of time. Highly recommend his e-book and booking in a session with him if OCD is an issue for you. Really great therapist!

I found Tom after searching for someone with lived OCD experience. OCD is a cruel beast but difficult to understand and comprehend unless you have been through it yourself. To anybody who is worried about their obsessive intrusive thoughts and find that it is impacting your quality of life, but you are scared of judgement because of the nature and theme of the thoughts...Tom has heard it all before, nothing will shock him. His empathy combined with his experience has allowed me to confidently say that I feel like I am now in recovery, I understand my OCD now more than ever and importantly I am able to manage it. Thanks again Tom!

I met Tom last year at rock bottom, after seeing a therapist who clearly didn’t know what she was doing and made my OCD so much worse. Tom helped me build skills and coping strategies to sit with the uncertainty. Hes so kind and patient and understanding and truly understands what it’s like to have OCD through his own lived experiences making him a one in a million therapist that I have the privilege of working with to improve my mental health and wellbeing. He’s given me my life back and for that I’ll be forever grateful. Theres still a lot of work to be done and I’m still improving day by day but with Tom I have no doubts that I’ll walk away from this with the skills to finally live my life freely. Thank you Tom for everything you do, I could not recommend you enough.

I am so lucky to have found Tom at an incredibly vulnerable and frightening time for me, just post the birth of my baby. I was suffering from debilitating OCD, in the form of intrusive thoughts, which prevented me from feeling able to look after my newborn. I felt utterly paralysed by my thoughts and totally confused and frustrated about why I was feeling the way I did. I really saw no light at the end of the tunnel and the NHS was giving me what I found to be unhelpful and irrelevant advice - as they simply didn’t understand what I was suffering from. Tom’s reassurance, his relaxed approach to the sessions, extremely relevant experience and in-depth knowledge of OCD enabled me to, surprisingly quickly, gain the confidence and ability to look after my baby and, importantly for me, understand why I was feeling the way I did. I have been an OCD sufferer for years, and ‘coped’, but this manifestation of it forced me to seek help and I couldn’t be more grateful that Tom was the person I found. Therapy requires you to get on with the other person well and it also needs a great deal of sensitivity. On top of his professional and personal experience, knowledge and obvious intelligence - Tom is a very likeable and down to earth person and is extremely thoughtful and careful with his words / approach- making my time with him incredibly effective. I only wish I had found Tom earlier and can only hope that these thoughts of mine help even 1 person to seek the help that they need as it really is life changing

Tom's wealth of knowledge and experience was hugely helpful alongside his warm, relational character and conversational approach. I felt listened to, valued and respected throughout. I saw Tom for OCD. Tom is very well informed and passionate about OCD. I would particularly recommend him to anyone struggling with this area of mental health, he really gets it.

Sessions have been massively helpful, both in themselves and through reading material after. You would be hard pushed to find a more supportive, down to earth, psychotherapist.

How can we help?
If you’re struggling with unwanted intrusive thoughts, constant doubt, reassurance-seeking, or compulsive behaviours, you may be wondering whether therapy could help — or feeling unsure about taking that first step.
Many people with OCD or intrusive thoughts worry about what their thoughts might “mean,” fear being misunderstood, or feel overwhelmed by the idea of talking to someone about them or their content. These concerns are common, and they often keep people stuck for longer than they need to be.
At The Wellbeing Team LTD, we understand how distressing and isolating OCD and intrusive thoughts can feel. Therapy offers a supportive, confidential space to explore these experiences safely and without judgement. Rather than focusing on getting rid of thoughts, evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) helps you understand why intrusive thoughts occur, how compulsions and mental checking keep them going, and how to respond differently so they lose their power.
CBT is a structured, collaborative talking therapy that recognises the close connection between our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. In OCD, this approach is particularly effective in helping people break free from cycles of fear, avoidance, and reassurance-seeking that can dominate daily life.
We also integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) principles, which focus on changing your relationship with intrusive thoughts, building tolerance for uncertainty, and helping you move towards a life guided by your values rather than your fears.
Working together with your therapist, you’ll develop a clearer understanding of your specific OCD patterns while also recognising your existing strengths and resilience. Your therapy goals will guide a personalised, evidence-based treatment plan tailored to your needs. This may include practical strategies to reduce compulsions, build tolerance for uncertainty, and help you live more in line with your values — rather than your fears.
Therapy progresses at a pace that feels manageable for you. There is no pressure, judgement, or expectation — only compassion, collaboration, and support as you work towards greater freedom from OCD and intrusive thoughts.
If you’re not quite ready for therapy, or you’d prefer something you can read and reflect on in your own time, we also offer a dedicated eBook focused on unwanted intrusive thoughts. This resource explains why intrusive thoughts happen, why they don’t reflect who you are, and how to begin responding to them in a healthier way. Many people find this a helpful first step — whether as preparation for therapy or as standalone support.
When you feel ready, help is available. Contact us to arrange a free CBT consultation and explore whether therapy feels right for you.
